The most important thing is to have fun!

The foundation of all sports lies primarily in having fun and Sander's sports childhood is no exception. We've had a little chat with Sander to hear what he thinks was particularly important about his childhood and maybe we can take some of that with us right now as we start up again.

Sander grew up doing a lot more than just handball. Still, it was something his handball coach managed that created a good team -- a group of friends who loved to play handball together.

One of the things that triggered this bunch was competitions. Most of the training turned into competitions, and this helped create a cohesion that lifted the team many notches. They learned to work together through competitions. They were simply having fun! Fortunately, they were never the same ones who won. The coach always made even teams and had so many different aspects in the competitions that all the boys knew about mastery. The handball team was neither the best nor the greatest physically of their year class, but they always wanted to win and thought the most fun in the world was to win, both in play at training and in matches.

Of course, you have to be able to find a balance between how much and what kind of competition suits your team. Unfortunately, there is no facet. Children are different so you just have to try your hand, but always keep in mind that the most important thing is the response of the children, all the children!

Remember, the most important thing is to have fun!
